At Visionary Leadership Academy (VLA), we believe true learning begins with healing. Our program serves students in grades 5–12 who need more than academics alone—they need a place where they feel safe, understood, and supported, whether they are transitioning to home education from a traditional school or continuing their journey as home-educated learners.

Our structure combines academics and emotional well-being to help students thrive. Our programs are designed to meet learners where they are, honor their stories, and help them move forward with confidence, connection, and purpose.

PROGRAM FEATURES

Healing-Centered Support
Through trauma-informed practices and consistent care, we create a safe space for students to feel calm, understood, and ready to learn. Emotional safety is the foundation for academic success.

Emotional Growth & Self-Confidence
We help students build self-awareness, regulate emotions, and strengthen communication skills through integrated reflection and real-life practice. Students leave more resilient, confident, and socially equipped.

Small Group & Individual Support
With small class sizes and personal connections, no student falls through the cracks. Our team works closely with families and learners to ensure every student feels known and supported.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

We recognize that many students carry stress, anxiety, or past experiences that can interfere with learning. That’s why emotional wellness is the foundation of everything we do. Our program incorporates daily practices that help students build confidence, develop healthy coping strategies, and strengthen their sense of self-worth, creating an environment where healing and personal growth happen alongside academic achievement.

Academically, we support each student’s home education by helping families use curriculum aligned with Florida state standards and providing small-group and individualized assistance to reinforce key concepts. Our program enhances learning with project-based and service-learning activities that make lessons meaningful and relevant. Through targeted support, we help students deepen their understanding of core subjects while encouraging them to explore their interests and develop their unique strengths.

Our flexible enrollment options, full-time (Monday through Friday) and part-time (three days a week), allow families to choose the best fit for their needs. Fridays are dedicated to enrichment activities that ignite curiosity, creativity, and joy, reinforcing our commitment to educating the whole child.

Courses & Activities for Home Education Students

At Visionary Leadership Academy, our program is designed to enrich and enhance the learning experiences of home-educated students by combining high-quality academic support with engaging, interest-driven enrichment opportunities, all in a supportive, healing-centered environment.

Academic Support and Individualized Plans:

  • Students receive an individualized academic plan tailored to their strengths, needs, and interests, ensuring a truly personalized learning journey.

  • We use the Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) assessment at entry, mid-year, and end-of-year to document growth, identify strengths, and determine areas needing additional support or remediation.

  • Our educators help families implement Florida standards-aligned curriculum in core subjects, math, English language arts, science, and social studies, and provide assistance in mastering foundational and advanced concepts.

  • Daily guidance, small group sessions, and one-on-one support help students stay on track and build confidence.

Emotional Wellness and Personal Growth:

  • Each student also receives an individualized emotional wellness plan designed to support emotional regulation, resilience, and personal well-being.

  • We embed activities throughout the day that promote mindfulness, self-awareness, and healthy relationships.

Engaging Enrichment and Exploration:

Fridays and parts of the weekly schedule are dedicated to enrichment experiences such as:

  • Collaborative projects that blend academic subjects with creative problem-solving.

  • Field trips to local museums, nature centers, and community organizations.

  • Guest speakers from various professions to inspire students and broaden their horizons.

  • Hands-on activities like experiments, art projects, and interactive simulations.

  • Technology exploration, including coding basics, digital design, and robotics kits.

A core part of our enrichment is AI literacy: students learn to use artificial intelligence tools responsibly, gain essential digital skills, and explore how AI can support learning, creativity, and future careers.

  • Our program runs for 180 instructional days per year, Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–3:10 p.m., offering consistent structure and routine for home-educated students.

  • Families can choose full-time enrollment (five days/week) or part-time enrollment (three days/week) to best match their needs and preferences.

By providing a caring community, individualized academic and emotional support, and engaging enrichment opportunities, we empower home education students to not only excel academically but also thrive emotionally and socially, preparing them for success in every aspect of life.

OUR FLEXIBLE SCHEDULING SYSTEM

We know that every student’s life looks a little different. That’s why we offer two flexible scheduling tracks—each grounded in our healing-first philosophy.

Thrive Track (5 days/week)

Our complete, immersive experience where students receive full academic instruction, daily healing routines, leadership development, and enrichment on Fridays. Ideal for families looking for comprehensive support.

Grow Track (3 days/week)

A balanced option that includes foundational academic support, core healing practices, and a rotation of enrichment and community-building experiences. Perfect for families seeking flexibility with structure.

Each track reflects our belief that healing and learning go hand in hand, regardless of how many days a student is with us.

Visionary Dreamers Lounge

Our after-school program offers students a safe, inspiring space to continue their learning beyond the school day. Running Monday through Thursday from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., our program provides personalized academic support to help students master key concepts, strengthen essential skills, and build study habits for long-term success.

Through engaging enrichment activities and hands-on projects, students are encouraged to explore their interests, think creatively, and dream big. Every session is designed to boost confidence, foster curiosity, and nurture each child’s unique potential, all in a supportive community where they feel seen, valued, and empowered to thrive.

Investment:

  • $30 per day per student, or

  • $100 per week per student (Monday–Thursday bundle)

Visionary Pathways to Success

We offer flexible, personalized tutoring sessions covering foundational numeracy, advanced math topics, and preparation for Florida’s statewide math assessments, including the Florida Assessment of Student Thinking (FAST) for grades 3–8 and the Algebra 1 and Geometry End-of-Course (EOC) exams. Whether your child needs help with basic concepts, middle school math, or advanced high school math courses, we provide targeted support to strengthen skills, build confidence, and achieve success.

Tutoring is available in-person or virtually, with flexible scheduling to fit your family’s busy life. As our program expands, additional subjects may be introduced to support your child’s comprehensive academic journey. Sessions are billed at $40 per hour.
