Our student experience is guided by the H.E.A.L.ing Framework™: Healing, Empowerment, Academic Excellence, and Leadership. This framework shapes how students are supported, how learning is designed, and how we help each child grow with confidence.

A DAY AT VLA

A day at VLA is structured, supportive, and intentionally paced. Students move through academic support, small-group learning, independent work, enrichment, wellness practices, and reflection in a way that helps them stay engaged without feeling overwhelmed.

For many students, the difference is not just what they learn. It is how they feel while they are learning.

Students may experience:

  • morning check-in and goal setting

  • individualized academic support

  • small-group instruction

  • independent learning time

  • hands-on projects

  • movement or wellness activities

  • reflection and progress check-ins

  • opportunities to build confidence, communication, and leadership

Example of Daily Schedule

Every student’s schedule may vary based on their program, learning needs, and attendance option. However, our days are designed to provide a balance of structure, academic focus, wellness, enrichment, and reflection.

Fridays Are for Discovery, Enrichment, and Joy

Fridays at VLA are intentionally designed to feel different from the rest of the week.

Because Fridays are half days, students participate in a more flexible mix of enrichment experiences, hands-on learning opportunities, collaborative activities, wellness experiences, and community-building experiences designed to help learning feel engaging, meaningful, and enjoyable.

Depending on the schedule and current projects, students may participate in:

  • STEM and hands-on projects

  • Creative and collaborative activities

  • Enrichment-based learning experiences

  • Team-building challenges

  • Wellness and reflection activities

  • Community outings and field experiences

  • Technology-integrated learning opportunities

  • Interest-based exploration activities

Our goal is to create opportunities for students to explore, connect, build confidence, and experience joy in learning beyond traditional academics.

Friday experiences may vary throughout the year based on student interests, projects, partnerships, and enrichment opportunities.
